The US TV operator has added Italy to its monthly best provider rankings for each country: Fastweb leads the way
Fastweb proudly announces that it tops the November Netflix ISP Speed Index, a ranking of Internet service providers based on the actual performance of Netflix on the networks of Italian ISPs during the month of November.
Netflix is the world’s leading Internet TV network with more than 69 million members worldwide. After its launch in October, Netflix today for the first time published its ranking of Internet service providers in Italy. Fastweb leads the way with 3.59Mbps, followed jointly by Wind and Telecom Italia (both 3.42Mbps), with Tiscali (3.39Mbps) and Vodafone (3.35Mbps) completing the list.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index (http://ispspeedindex.netflix.com/) shows the average speed of streams received by Netflix members’ during prime time hours on an ISP’s network. The index doesn’t report the maximum network speed. Higher scores mean faster startup times and better image quality.
In 2012, Fastweb launched a major plan of investments to expand its coverage in ultra broadband (up to 100 Mbps) to cover 7,5 million households in Italy by the end of 2016. Today, Fastweb’s new generation network reaches already 6,2 million houselholds. Netflix ISP index score proves that Fastweb, thanks to its continuous innovation and investments, provide the best quality for its customers.
Alberto Calcagno, Chief Executive Officer of Fastweb stated: “We are very satisfied that Fastweb has been ranked first in the Netflix ISP Speed Index, which may serve to make operators aware of the level of demand for ultra broadband in each country. This ranking plays a major role for consumers throughout the world in deciding which internet provider to choose as it is seen as neutral and objective.”
