Fastweb, 600 smartphone for people living in towns destroyed by earthquake

In support of the earthquake victims, to address the emergency, Fastweb will send up to 600 smartphones with free Sim. In the coming days the first phones will reach the earthquake-affected areas and will be immediately usable by the population for six months.

The revenue growth and further improvement of the main earnings indicators highlight the success of Fastweb’s industrial plan, which focuses on creating the largest alternative ultra-broadband network in Italy. The major infrastructural investment has been rewarded by the market and the customer base who in increasing numbers are turning to Fastweb as a provider of value added services.

Swisscom has Signed the Agreements for the Sale of its Stake in Metroweb S.p.A.

Swisscom Italia S.r.l. has signed the agreements for the sale of its 10.6% stake in Metroweb S.p.A. to the main shareholder Metroweb Italia S.p.A. The shareholder agreement, which confers to Swisscom Italia certain minority rights, terminates with the closing of the transaction. The transaction amounts to 80 million euro, in line with the current valuation recognized by the offer presented by the Italian utility company Enel to acquire 100% of Metroweb Italia S.p.A.

Fastweb and Telecom Italia sign a strategic partnership to build a national FTTH network

Fastweb and Telecom Italia have entered into a strategic partnership to build a FTTH network (Fiber to the Home) that will deliver connection speed at 1 gigabit per second. The infrastructure construction and fiber lay down will be realized through a joint venture co-owned by the two companies respectively at 20% and 80%. The ambition is to connect 3.0 million units in 29 major cities already covered in FTTC (Fiber to the Cabinet) over the next four years until 2020 for a total investment of 1.2 billion euro.
