Padua, March 23rd 2004 - FastWeb, Italy's leading broadband telecommunications company, 100% controlled by e.Biscom S.p.A. (Milan, Nuovo Mercato: EBI), is launching its services in Padua shortly after having announced its debut in Venice. The investment in Padua will be approximately ? 10 million, out of a total investment in the North East of Italy of ? 60 million over a three-year period. FastWeb's fibre optic and ADSL access networks will bring countless benefits to the city of Padua, allowing its residents to exploit the advanced telecommunications services already available in the other main Italian cities.
FastWeb's business model is based on the innovative offering of triple play for the simultaneous use of telephone, high speed Internet and television over a fully integrated IP network. FastWeb started operations in Padua in January 2004 and is now ready to present its development plans which foresee reaching 75,000 households, that is 80% of the population, before the end of this year and the remaining 20% over the next few years.
The network will transform Padua into a forefront technological pole, revolutionizing telecommunications for families and businesses and attracting investments. The creation of over 300 new jobs in North-Eastern Italy is foreseen for the development of the plan.
